Across African universities, the distance between a degree and a first job is rarely a question of ability. It is a question of access: who knows someone, who hears about an opening, who can afford to spend a term unpaid in a city far from home.

Interned, a company within the Nova Capital Holdings group, is building the infrastructure that closes that gap — a placement platform that matches students with internships on the basis of skill, interest and availability rather than proximity to a network.

A two-sided problem

Students describe the same experience: scattered listings, unanswered applications, and no feedback. Employers describe the mirror image: hundreds of unfiltered CVs, no reliable signal, and no process for turning a good intern into a good hire.

Interned treats both sides as one design problem. Students build a structured profile once. Employers post a role with clear expectations, duration and terms. The platform does the matching and keeps both parties informed at every step.

The talent is already there. The routing is what is missing.

Designed for how students actually apply

The product is mobile-first and deliberately light. Profiles are built in minutes, applications resolve in a swipe, and every application returns an answer — including a decline. The team's position is that silence is the single most corrosive part of the current experience.

Cross-border by default

Placements are not confined to one market. A student in Nairobi can take a remote role with a team in Windhoek; a Kinshasa employer can reach candidates it would never otherwise see. The continent's early-career market is treated as one pool rather than a set of isolated cities.

What the group contributes

Nova Capital Holdings' role is practical: capital, hiring support, systems and the time required to build trust with universities and employers before scale is asked of the product.

Interned remains in active build and partnership development. Progress will be published as it happens rather than ahead of it.
